Welcome to the September mid-month update from Swale Planning Alerts. Here’s a look at the biggest planning applications, housing proposals, roadworks and infrastructure stories affecting communities across Swale so far this month.

A fresh outline proposal has been submitted for 31 homes on land north of Nelson Avenue in Minster-on-Sea. The site was previously the subject of an appeal, but the Planning Inspectorate declined to determine it in February after finding that the earlier application had not been validly made because of land-ownership notification issues. A new notice for 31 homes was published this month, so this is one we’ll be watching closely.

A major hybrid planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of Kinford on Warden Road, Eastchurch. The plans include up to 400 residential park homes, 228 holiday static caravans, 136 retirement apartments, a 70-room care home, a 60-room assisted-living facility and 92 additional apartments and houses, alongside new community and commercial space. The application is currently under consideration by Swale Borough Council.

Further disruption is planned at the Kingsferry Bridge, with daytime closures scheduled for 27 September and 4 October while bridge examination works are carried out.

Traffic will be diverted via the Sheppey Crossing, while a shuttle service is expected to assist pedestrians and cyclists affected by the closure.
